HANNIBAL ARTS COUNCIL NEWS:

Hannibal, MO – Twenty students were presented Young Master Select Awards during the Young Masters student art exhibit, held annually at the Hannibal Arts Council.  Young Masters features selected works by students from Hannibal’s fifth- and eighth-grade public and parochial schools and Hannibal High School Art Department.  Awards were presented at two separate awards receptions. 

Chosen for Young Masters Select Awards from the fifth-grade entries were Kenlynn Morgan (Eugene Field, instructor Michele Dent); Macie Tutor (Holy Family, instructor Shelly Lowe); Madi Weatherford (Mark Twain, instructor Amber Bartz); Brenleigh Locke (Oakwood, instructor Amber Penrose); Gia Cox (St. John’s Lutheran, instructor Becky Evans); Maggie Taylor (Stowell, Instructor Stephen Schisler); Evelyn Yeater and Lilith Davis (Veterans, Instructor Tara Lewton).

Chosen for Young Masters Select Awards from the eighth-grade entries were Ethan Whitehead and Layla Murphy (Holy Family, instructor Shelly Lowe); Abbie Carlson (St. John’s Lutheran, instructor Becky Evans); Reagan Davis, Lakiesha Allen, and Harley Prewitt (HMS, instructors Jennifer Kitzmiller, Hannah Schildknecht and Beth Hinton).

Hannibal High School Select Award winners were Olivia Stagi, Ashley Davis, Rylee Kearns, Brooke Bergman, Emma Glover and Stormy Lewis (HHS, Instructors James Zimmerman, Lisa Wiese and Christina Strode). 

Other awards for students participating in HHS Art Department courses were also presented by HHS art instructors. Those winners will be announced separately.

The exhibit was sponsored by First State Insurance Agency, General Mills Hometown Grantmaking Program, Riedel Foundation, Community Foundation of West Central Illinois & Northeast Missouri, Hannibal Arts Council, and the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
