🔴💻 MAP Testing begins this week for our 3rd, 4th & 5th grade students. Please view this schedule with helpful tips to have your students ready for testing. 🟢
Here are a few ways you can make sure that the MAP test reflects their true academic abilities.
⏰ Be aware of the testing schedule. Have your child to school, on time.
-Make sure your child gets adequate rest. This may mean getting them used to an earlier bedtime the weeks prior to testing.
-Please avoid scheduling appointments on testing days.
-Students should each a nutritious breakfast on testing days. We will have snacks for all students on these days as well.
-Dress your child in layered clothing. This way your child may add clothing to get warmer or remove something to cool off.
-Help us reinforce that as long as your child has worked hard in preparation and did their absolute best, we will be proud of them!

Mrs. McFarland and Ms. Blaine’s class recently enjoyed a Show Me Reader book with Mrs. Gerard in Library! The book she read to them is called “Hugo and the Impossible Thing”. It taught our students that with a little determination and sometimes help from our peers…might be all they need to conquer their dreams and or that “impossible thing”. Our students here at Veterans LOVE Mrs. Gerard, and really enjoy all of the silly voices she makes while reading to them.😊📚 📸 Courtesy Bailey Shoemate

Pirate Families:
On Monday, April 8, a solar eclipse will cross over the United States. Although we are not in the path of totality, we will be able to view a 94% eclipse at approximately 2 p.m. This is a rare occasion and we want our students to be able to experience it. Our teachers will also be planning activities to align with the event and grade level learning standards.
To take advantage of watching the eclipse, students will be issued protective eye glasses prior to going outside. These eyeglasses have been purchased by our Parent Teacher Organization, and have been certified as safe by the American Astronomical Society and NASA.
If you DO NOT want your student to participate in the viewing, please contact us by calling or emailing the contact below by 9 a.m. on Monday, April 8.
Thank you,
Mrs. Kelly
