☀️ Today's weather called for outdoor recess! 😎

Recently, every 5th grade class signed a respect agreement with their teachers and each other for this school year.
It was so cool to hear what these 10 and 11 year old's value and looked for from me (Ms. Jeffries), expect from themselves, and need from their peers. This is something we will post in the room and go back to all year if we feel like any of us, including the teacher, is not meeting the agreement.

☀Mrs. Overfield's second grade class enjoyed using STEAM bins for inside recess last week!

Meet Mrs. Drebes! She is our new library clerk for the school year.
I am a graduate of Hannibal-LaGrange University '22
I have a passion for reading and am excited to share that with students in hopes to help them grow in learning and reading! I have previous experience as a children's librarian for a summer but was still in college, have always wanted to go back to library work since then so I am thrilled to be here!
Mom of 2 plus a baby girl due in October!
Excited to be part of this team, loving my first few days so far!

Mrs. Hedges 1st grade class at Mark Twain Elementary had fun today getting to know each other through a learning game called "Friends Bingo" today!
Recess looks a little different with the heat index, but that didn't stop the fun! Students played together inside and even got to put their critical thinking skills to the test! 🏴☠️

Welcome Mrs. Brenda to the Mark Twain Family! She will be the new head cook for our building!
I have been married to my husband Albert for 42 years. We have 3 daughters and 8 grandchildren. They keep us busy with sporting events and other activities. My hobbies include reading, knitting and crocheting; and I belong to HRH Auxiliary making newborn baby bonnets and blankets and washcloths for cancer patients. My heart is the fullest when I am around little children, because they bring me so much joy. I am looking forward to the new year as your head cook and making some new little friends.

Welcome Miss Patterson to Mark Twain! She will be teaching 5th grade.
Hi! My name is Lauren Patterson, and I am so incredibly excited to be joining the 5th grade team this year! I just graduated from Hannibal-Lagrange University this last May. I enjoy cooking and all things adventure. I am so pumped to be joking the Mark Twain Elementary family! I was given the chance to work alongside various grade levels at MTE during my time at Hannibal-LaGrange. I feel so blessed to get to come back and work together with a family of teachers that love their job, and love their students well! Let’s have the best year ever!

Welcome Miss Ferry to the Mark Twain Family!
My name is Alyssa Ferry. I am going to be the new speech and language teacher at Mark Twain! I grew up in Perry, MO and am a 2018 graduate from Mark Twain High School. I went to college at Truman State University and graduated in 2022 with my Bachelors degree in Communication Disorders. I currently live in New London with my 2 roommates and my dog Tux.
